Freedom Trail Boston
The best way to get a handle on Boston's colorful history is by walking the Freedom Trail. This well-marked two and a half mile stroll will take you to 16 prominent sites in Boston History: Boston Common, The Massachusetts State House, Park Street Church, Granary Burying Ground, King's Chapel, Ben Franklin's statue, Old South Meeting House, Old Corner Bookstore, Old State House, Boston Massacre Site, Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere House, Old North Church, Copp's Hill Burying Ground, USS Constitution, & Bunker Hill Monument.
The trail is outside and always available. Simply follow the red stripe from site to site. You can begin or end your tour anywhere that you would like, although the trail technically begins at the Visitors Center in Boston Commons. Small radio receivers are also available for rent, which allow you to listen to an excellent audio tour of the trail as you move along at your own pace. Formal tours are also available. Some the individual sites charge an admission and all have varying hours of operation. Restrooms are located at various points along the way. Wear comfortable shoes, and be sure to bring your camera!
