Boston Restaurants
Over the past several years Boston has greatly improved its gastronomic reputation. There is still plenty of traditional food, served in historic restaurants, but there is a lot more than beans and chowder on the menu today in Boston.

Anago epitomizes a new style of modern dining in the city. Try the tuna carpaccio or soft-shelled crab as starters, then perhaps the maple-glazed bluefish or birch-smoked rack of lamb as main courses. Anago's smart style could flourish in San Francisco or any other culinary mecca.

Aujourd'hui is located on the second floor of one of the premier luxury hotel is Boston. The place is beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Public Garden. Even without the great location, the incredible service and food would make Aujourd'hui worth every penny of its pricey menu.

For a less expensive alternative, try the Border Cafe, a popular Harvard Square hangout for nearly 20 years. The wait can be long, but they have a great bar with "fiesta" spirit. The menu features large portions of Tex-Mex, Cajun, and some Caribbean specialties. If you are looking for quiet conversation, this isn't the place; but if you are looking for a party with great food, head for the Border.

If you want a view and quiet conversation, try the Top of the Hub. Situated on the 52nd floor of the Prudential Tower, this formal restaurant offers a great view of the city. The atmosphere is romantic, making it popular with couples. The menu offers primarily Italian cuisine, creatively and excellently prepared.

Julien, on Franklin Street, offers up Nouveau French cuisine in an elegant dining room that looks more like an art museum than a restaurant.

The Elephant Walk advertises itself as serving French-Cambodian cuisine. The fact is that it serves two different menus. The owner is the daughter of a French diplomat who grew up in Cambodia. Her versions of both cuisines contain elements and influences of the other. The results are delightful. This is one of the most popular restaurants in Boston.
